Widows Orphans & The Vulnerable

GRAINS
Grains is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in Scotland that operates in Nigeria to alleviate hunger among widows, orphans, and vulnerable communities, ensuring they can access and sustain their education. In Nigeria, soaring food costs frequently force underprivileged children out of the classroom, as families are unable to balance nutritional needs with school fees. Recognising that education is a critical catalyst for sustainable development, Grains bridges this gap by leveraging Scottish resources and support to empower those who need it most.
Inspired by the biblical mandate of James 1:27—to care for widows and orphans in their affliction—Grains is driven by a faith-based commitment to restore hope and break the cycle of poverty. As Nigeria faces escalating food insecurity and the threat of severe shortages, our immediate mission is to scale our feeding programmes and safeguard as many lives as possible. Ultimately, Grains aims to inspire a new generation of leaders and organisations to answer the call of service and community transformation.
